As teachers are spending much of their money on school supplies, any help they can receive to save money is greatly appreciated. Therefore, many retailers offer teacher discounts exclusively – marineland is no different. Offering this savings opportunity to teachers helps families enjoy family fun together without breaking the bank!

Marineland began as the world’s first oceanarium and was the place where Flippy from Ringling Bros taught a wild dolphin how to juggle. Marineland became a major tourist attraction before becoming a municipality; but its glory days ended abruptly when Disney World opened near Orlando and Interstates 95 and 4 bypassed Marineland altogether.

Marineland’s current owners have attempted to revitalize its business by rebranding it as an “edutainment” center and emphasizing interaction between visitors and animals instead of watching a show. Furthermore, they created a 1.3 million gallon dolphin habitat designed with consideration given to behavioral needs of animals, viewing capabilities of scientists and logistical needs of trainers in mind.

Marineland also attempts to promote itself as an advocate for animal welfare by touting its membership of the Canadian Association of Zoos and Aquariums (CAZA), but this organization does not regulate marine mammals like those at Marineland; one local resident believes Marineland mistreats its animals.

CBC Hamilton reached out to school boards, and many reported they no longer take students on field trips to Marineland. Niagara public schools reported they haven’t visited Marineland since 2007 while Niagara Catholic said there weren’t any trips planned this year.
