How To Get The LACMA Teacher Discount
The Discounted Levels page says LACMA offers $75 Individual-level memberships ($15 discount) for various groups. The five it lists are people with disabilities, seniors 65 and older, artists, teachers and students 18 and older, and the teacher line reads “Teachers (for academic educators).” The page has a Join Now button and doesn’t say how teacher status is checked, so expect to be asked and keep something handy that shows you teach.
The standard Individual membership is $90 a year, or $81 a year with Auto Renewal, according to the membership page. Whether the $75 rate and the Auto Renewal price can be combined isn’t something either page says.

If You Only Want One Visit
The tickets page lists no teacher ticket. Its one mention of teachers is a pointer: if you’re a teacher planning to bring students, it sends you to the School & University Visits page. It does say that visitors residing in LA County are eligible for discounted tickets, so an LA County teacher can look there first for a single visit.
Bringing A Class
School trips run through a separate program on the School & University Visits page. It says all guided tours are awarded through a lottery system, and that teachers and coordinators sign up for a chance to receive a free guided tour in the David Geffen Galleries. A limited number of funded buses are available, and buses can be requested through the lottery form. The page lists its own reservation window, so look there before you plan around it.
For a self-guided visit, the page says to email at least two weeks in advance to reserve your place. Either way, LACMA requires at least one adult for every 10 students, and chaperones must remain with their group of 10 students at all times.
Evenings For Educators And Free Courses
LACMA’s teachers page describes Evenings for Educators as professional development with a buffet-style dinner and free parking. Tickets for in-person programs are $20, and teachers who attend are eligible for professional development credit when they sign in and out at the registration table at each program. The same page says LACMA offers free, self-paced professional development courses for teachers, so there’s a no-cost option if the evenings don’t fit your schedule.
What We Couldn’t Confirm
The Discounted Levels page doesn’t define “academic educators,” so we can’t say whether it covers substitutes, aides or retired teachers. It doesn’t name the proof LACMA asks for, and it doesn’t say whether the discount applies above the Individual level.
