La Quinta La Quinta

La Quinta doesn’t have a teacher discount of its own, and it isn’t on ID.me’s list of Wyndham brands that offer one. If you belong to the AFT, though, the union’s Wyndham hotel rate names La Quinta, and that’s the one real route worth trying before you book.

La Quinta is one of Wyndham’s brands. Wyndham’s own site files it under Midscale, next to Wingate, Wyndham Garden, AmericInn, Baymont, Ramada Worldwide and Ramada Ecore. La Quinta’s about page describes a free breakfast served every morning, free WiFi, and pet-friendly rooms at most locations.

How To Get The La Quinta Teacher Discount

There isn’t a direct one. ID.me hosts Wyndham’s teacher travel program on a page that promises teachers up to 20% off the “best available rate” at participating Wyndham Hotel Group locations, and it names 14 brands: Wyndham Hotels and Resorts, Wyndham Grand, Wyndham Garden, TRYP by Wyndham, Days Inn, Ramada Worldwide, Super 8, Wingate by Wyndham, Baymont Inns and Suites, Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham, Microtel Inns and Suites by Wyndham, Howard Johnson, Travelodge and Knights Inn. La Quinta isn’t among them. The page doesn’t say why, so all that can be said is that La Quinta isn’t named.

La Quinta’s own booking box points the same direction. Its Special Rates menu offers None, AAA/CAA, AARP, Government/Per Diem, Military/Veteran, Senior, Corporate Code and Group Code. There’s no teacher or educator choice in that list.

The AFT Route

AFT’s hotel discounts page gives members a Wyndham rate of 20% off the best available rate, and the brands it lists include Days Inn, Super 8, Ramada, Travelodge and “LaQuinta.” AFT says members can book by phone with a corporate code or online through a preferred rates page. That makes it a union benefit rather than a teacher benefit, so it only works if you’re an AFT member.

Wyndham’s own benefits page words the same offer more carefully: “up to 20% off our Standard Rate at participating hotels.” It lists the same booking phone number AFT does, and its terms say proof of membership must be presented at check-in and that the offer isn’t valid if you call the hotel directly. That page doesn’t list brands, so AFT’s page is the one that names La Quinta. Ask what a specific La Quinta is showing before you count on the full 20%.

What La Quinta Offers Everyone

If you can’t use the AFT rate, La Quinta’s Book Early and Save page offers up to 15% off the Standard Rate at participating hotels when you book and pay at least seven days ahead. You look for the “Pay Now & Save, Non-Cancelable” rate while picking a room, and the terms say a cancellation or change means forfeiting the total room charge plus taxes. That suits a trip that’s already locked in, like a conference or a fixed school break.

Wyndham’s Best Rate Guarantee, linked from La Quinta’s footer, says that if you book direct and then find a lower public rate elsewhere, it will match it and add 3,000 Wyndham Rewards bonus points. You have to file the claim within 24 hours of booking and more than 48 hours before check-in. Wyndham Rewards is the loyalty program La Quinta’s pages send you to, and they say you can join for free during booking.

Q&A

Does La Quinta have a teacher discount?
Not that La Quinta or ID.me lists. La Quinta’s Special Rates menu has no teacher option, and it isn’t one of the 14 brands on ID.me’s Wyndham teacher page.

Can I use the AFT rate if I’m not a member?
Wyndham’s terms say proof of membership must be presented at check-in, so no.

Is the 20% guaranteed at every La Quinta?
No. Wyndham’s wording is “up to 20%” at participating hotels, taken off the Standard Rate, which its terms define as the best publicly available unrestricted rate.

Is there a teacher rate on Hotels.com I could use instead?
ID.me’s Hotels.com page lists 10% off for Teachers, with restrictions that say you must click through and finish your booking to activate it and that the maximum savings is $40. Hotels.com also has its own teacher discount page on this site.
