Philadelphia Orchestra and Kimmel Center unite under one organization

Full disclosure: If you visit a link on this page and make a purchase, we may receive a small commission at no extra cost to you.

Phildelphia Orchestra and Kimmel Center have combined into one entity in an attempt to recover from severe losses sustained during the coronavirus pandemic. By unifying leadership teams and consolidating resources into one structure, organizers hope this merger will make raising money easier for Verizon Hall renovations, Merriam Theater restoration projects and education programs and services.

Ewers believes a centralized structure will make it easier for individuals, foundations, corporations and government agencies to unite behind. She hopes her fund-raising effort to secure around $100 million worth of naming opportunities for the new entity and revamp both Kimmel and Merriam theaters is successful.

Last season, the Kimmel Cultural Campus directly impacted 10,669 students through 32,235 learning hours across our Education events and activities – such as in-school residencies, field trips, virtual classes and instructional videos.

School District of Philadelphia employees can take advantage of special discounts when purchasing tickets to performances by the Performing Arts or Curtis Institute events. Simply choose your performance and enter promo code PHILASD23 during checkout; seating selection will depend upon availability; this offer is only valid during 2022-23 season.
