Jacksonville Zoo offers an unforgettable family adventure! Situated on 115-acres, this facility hosts over 2,000 animals and 1,000 plants on display – as well as its River Valley Aviary, Giraffe Overlook, Savanna Blooms botanical garden and Children’s Play Park. Additionally, numerous educational talks and tours provide visitors with deeper understanding of nature.
According to its website, the zoo has been visited by more than 100,000 students, teachers and chaperones over the past year alone. March, April and May were its three busiest field trip months – accounting for roughly 50% of annual school visits at that time.
Over the past five years, the zoo has undergone considerable modifications and additions. They include adding Range of the Jaguar and Savanna Blooms botanical gardens; opening their Children’s Play Park as well as Stingray Bay where visitors can feed stingrays.
Teachers and students visiting the zoo can take advantage of various discounts when visiting, including 20% off general admission tickets and 10% off Seminole Aerial Adventure single-day passes by showing a valid teacher or student ID. They may also take advantage of promotions such as the Crayola Experience which gives teachers an annual pass free with no blackout dates; in addition, this pass entitles them to food and merchandise discounts and other perks.
