Gov. Spencer Cox was once an educator himself as a teenager, so it only makes sense for him to show his appreciation of Utah teachers through his fiscal year 2024 budget proposal: providing each K-12 teacher in Utah an extra $6,000 annual pay increase. “I want to give them some extra encouragement because they could make more but choose teaching,” Cox noted at Thursday’s budget news conference.
