We couldn’t confirm a teacher discount at DoorDash. ID.me says it isn’t aware of one, and the Student DashPass page on DoorDash’s own help site describes a plan for enrolled students without a word about teachers. What we did find is a way to get some money back on an order, and a student plan that a few teachers might qualify for.
If your weeknights run on grading and takeout, the numbers below are small but real. Cash back from a gift card is a percentage of what you spend, not a markdown on DoorDash’s prices, and it’s open to anyone who signs up, teacher or not.
How To Get The DoorDash Teacher Discount
There’s no teacher discount to apply for, so the one route we could confirm is cash back through Fluz. Fluz sells DoorDash e-gift cards and lists 9% cashback on them. The cards are available from $20 to $500, and Fluz says they’re redeemable online only. Per Fluz, the card balance shows up in your DoorDash account as DoorDash credit and is applied automatically to your next order, so you buy the card first and then order the way you always do.
We checked the other two cash back portals as well. Rakuten’s DoorDash page has “No Cash Back” in its title, and TopCashback returns a page-not-found error for DoorDash. For the Teachers community, ID.me says it’s not aware that DoorDash offers a discount. ID.me’s own DoorDash store page does list up to $1.50 cash back, and it says that offer is only eligible for new U.S. customers.
What Fluz Says About How It Works
Fluz says anyone who creates a Fluz account can purchase a gift card, and that it doesn’t charge any fees to buy one. The card terms on its DoorDash page say the card is redeemable toward eligible orders placed on doordash.com, caviar.com, or in the DoorDash or Caviar app in the United States. That keeps the offer to U.S. orders placed online or in the app.
The cash back comes with buying the card, so it doesn’t change the prices DoorDash shows at checkout. The terms also say gift cards aren’t redeemable for cash except when required by applicable law, which means the credit stays in DoorDash. Buy about what you expect to order, and check the rate on Fluz’s page before you pay, since cash back rates change.
If You’re Also A Student
DoorDash has a Student DashPass plan, and some teachers are students too, working on a master’s or a doctorate. DoorDash’s help page says the plan is for customers who are enrolled in a University or Post-secondary school and pass the verification process. It doesn’t mention teachers, so being a teacher doesn’t qualify you on its own. Being enrolled does.
The page says that outside a free sign-up window, Student DashPass costs $4.99 a month or $48 annually instead of $9.99 a month or $96 a year. DoorDash’s Free Student DashPass FAQs describe that window for eligible students, so read the current dates there before you plan around it. To verify, the app asks for your first and last name, college, date of birth and email address. Each customer may have only one Student plan, because a customer can only be approved once by the verification process.
DashPass benefits also depend on the size of the order. In the U.S., DoorDash says the subtotal needs to be $12 or more at restaurants or convenience stores, or $25 or more for grocery orders.
