Chewy doesn’t list a discount for teachers. Its help article on group discounts says Chewy doesn’t currently offer senior or military discounts, and nothing we read there names teachers. What we could confirm is cash back through shopping portals, 2% on Rakuten and 1% of the price on TopCashback, plus Chewy’s own Autoship discount, which isn’t tied to being a teacher.
If you’re the one who ends up buying supplies for the class pet, or you’re just trying to spend a little less on your own dog or cat, those are the savings on the table. Here’s what each one covers and the exclusions that catch people out.
How To Get The Chewy Teacher Discount
There’s no teacher discount to claim, so there’s no teacher verification step either. Chewy’s help article on senior and military discounts says: “We don’t currently offer senior or military discounts, but you can always check Today’s deals for savings.” It doesn’t mention teachers or educators, and ID.me’s Chewy page says it isn’t aware that Chewy offers Teachers discounts.
What helps instead is going through a cash back portal before you check out. Rakuten’s Chewy page lists 2% Cash Back, and the button below goes to Rakuten. Rakuten says Cash Back is not available on pet prescriptions, flea and tick products or gift cards, and not on Autoship orders after the initial order, so it fits a one-time order better than a repeat delivery.
Autoship And Chewy’s Other Savings
Chewy’s Autoship overview describes Autoship as an easy way to set up repeat deliveries from Chewy and save on the items you buy regularly. The page lists 35% off your first Autoship (up to $20) and 5% off future Autoship orders, and it adds that some exclusions apply. It says your orders ship automatically on a schedule you choose, and that you can update the date, items, address or payment method any time in Manage Autoship in your account.
The same help center has short articles on promo codes and manufacturer coupons. On promo codes, the page says some codes have restrictions, so check the terms on Chewy or in the email or mailer where you received the code. On manufacturer coupons, it says Chewy can help you apply one to an eligible order, and that you can use one coupon for each eligible item.
Cash Back Routes We Checked
Rakuten is the one we’d reach for first, since its page lists 2% Cash Back on Chewy and the exclusions above. TopCashback’s Chewy page offers 1% of the price back. It lists purchases of gift cards and Rx products as not eligible, says purchases made through the mobile app are not eligible, and says purchases using Auto Ship can impact Cash Back eligibility. It also lists the use of a coupon code not displayed on TopCashback, so if you plan to type in a promo code, look at what the portal shows first.
Fluz’s Chewy page is titled “Chewy gift cards with 5% cashback,” so that rate is for buying Chewy gift cards through Fluz rather than for ordering directly. Rates move, so check the number on the portal before you pay.
What We Couldn’t Confirm
Chewy’s homepage and its Autoship landing page blocked our automated reads, so we couldn’t rule out a banner or an offer for teachers there. The help center articles we could read name none. The help center also carries a line about Chewy+, but we didn’t open that program’s terms, so we can’t tell you what it costs or who qualifies. We also didn’t place an order, so we can’t say how a promo code, an Autoship discount and a portal’s cash back behave together at checkout.
