Big Kahuna Teacher Discount offers teachers, healthcare workers and military personnel free admission. In addition to discounted admission for their families, those eligible can show their work ID with photo or pay stub upon entering the park to show that they qualify. It offers indoor and outdoor water slides, half pipe surfing/flow boarding facilities, wave pool lazy river, private cabanas and tiki bar for visitors’ entertainment.
The fundraiser runs September 1-20 on order forms and online, featuring items such as wrapping paper, kitchen tools, cookie dough and sweet treats for students to sell. Students receive prizes for every item sold while those submitting 20+ orders can earn an extra ticket to ride the Monster Party Bus together!
Sharon Detweiler is this year’s Big Kahuna and has 29 years of nursing experience at Baptist Health Fishermen’s Community Hospital and Mariners Hospital in Key Largo. Along with her husband Nelson Sanchez (Monroe County sheriff’s deputy), they raised an outstanding $53,456 last year!
