Teachers could save hundreds of pounds every month thanks to an innovative supermarket discount scheme. Supermarket giants ASDA, Sainsbury’s and TK Maxx offer teachers and education staff discounts as part of the Discounts for Teachers scheme.

The scheme is similar to Blue Light Cards that give emergency service, NHS, social care and armed forces workers money off their purchases, but with an emphasis on those working in education – including school staff, teaching assistants, volunteers and retired teachers.

Starting and ending of school years provide some of the greatest teacher discounts; during these times students are in greater demand for books, technology products and other purchases.

Not just teachers can take advantage of this scheme – university staff, cleaners, administration staff and anyone working in education can also utilize its benefits.

One teacher who uses the scheme claims it has saved them hundreds, if not thousands, of pounds on shopping, gym membership and financial services deals. She noted: “It has truly been life changing for me – and would recommend it highly to all working in education!”

Food, books, gadgets or any other items should all qualify for ASDA teacher discounts; but don’t take my word for it when shopping around for the most competitive prices – use all available discounts before making a decision!
