Apple offers a special section of their online store dedicated to education, offering students, college kids and teachers year-round a substantial discount. The deal applies to selected iPads, MacBooks and computer displays listed on Apple’s education page; however it doesn’t cover iPhones or Apple TV. Furthermore, AirPods and the Apple Watch don’t qualify for teacher discounts.
Eligibility for discounts varies based on country. In the UK, for instance, Apple requires verification through Unidays or government ID in order to offer discounted pricing on certain expensive products. Apple in the US is slightly more relaxed about verifying customer status by ticking a box during checkout; but both services require verification through one form or another in order to claim discounts on certain goods and services.
Current and newly admitted college students, K-12 teachers, staff of educational facilities/institution staffers, home school teachers as well as parents buying Apple devices for their offspring are eligible for discounts. Administrators or executives from PTAs also qualify.
The Apple Education Store is an online section of their company’s website which features discounted products with preselected lists of merchandise. Users must first create a UNiDAYS account and link their educational institution or credit card style student ID before purchasing items from this store. Apple imposes limits on how many desktop, mini and laptop purchases a person can make using educator discounts each year; but this remains an attractive way of saving money on some of today’s most coveted computers.
