Science Museum Oklahoma doesn’t list a discount for individual teachers. What teachers get is tied to a school field trip: admission from $9 per student, one chaperone free for every 10 students, and a teacher lunch voucher for trips booked inside the window the museum names.
If you’re the one lining up the bus, the headcount and the permission slips, the field trips page has most of what you need. If you’re visiting without a class, skip down to Visiting On Your Own.
How To Get The Science Museum Oklahoma Teacher Discount
There’s no teacher discount to ask for at the ticket desk, so the way in is a booked field trip. The field trips page says admission starts at just $9 per student for qualifying groups that book in advance, and the tickets page lists school field trips at $9 to $10 each.
The chaperone line is the one that saves you the most: one adult is required and free for every 10 students, and additional chaperones start at $9 each when they pay with the group. Chaperones who pay individually, separate from the group, pay the full admission rate.
You book through the form on the field trips page. The museum asks for 3 to 5 business days to review and respond, and once your trip is booked you get a Booking Confirmation Email. If you haven’t seen it after that, check your spam folder, and call or email the reservations team before you send a second form so the museum doesn’t double book you.
What The Price Covers
Field trip admission is all-inclusive: one price covers the permanent exhibits, Science Live shows and Love’s Planetarium, and the page says Science Live and planetarium presentations come at no additional charge. Seating is first-come, first-served, so the museum suggests arriving early for shows.
On the day, the main teacher or point of contact checks in at Guest Relations, completes a check-in form with student and chaperone counts, and submits payment. If you’re paying with a purchase order, an invoice is emailed after your visit.
A few rules to know before you commit. Memberships and coupons can’t be used with field trip rates, so a family membership won’t cover your class. Cancellations need at least 48 hours’ notice. And students can’t bring backpacks on field trips, which is worth putting in the permission slip.
Teachers, Lunch Is On Us
The field trips page has a section with that title. When you book a field trip inside the window the page names, the museum provides one teacher lunch voucher for every 10 students in your group. The vouchers are good for selections from the staff menu until an expiry date the page also names, and OERB-sponsored field trips are excluded. The page spells out both dates, so check them there before you book.
For the students, you can bring bagged and labeled lunches, or pre-order boxed lunches starting at $6. Café vouchers let students pick their own meals. If you ask for it at booking, the museum reserves a lunch space at a designated time.
Free Trips Through OERB
The museum partners with the Oklahoma Energy Resources Board’s HomeRoom program to provide free field trips for eligible Oklahoma classrooms. To qualify, you attend an OERB workshop, teach the provided OERB curriculum and complete a post-curriculum application. An approved classroom gets free museum admission for teachers and students, an OERB-sponsored show plus a planetarium or Science Live presentation, and partial to full travel reimbursement covered by OERB. The page sends you to OERBHomeRoom.com or teachers@oerb.com with questions, so that’s the route if cost is what stands between your class and a trip.
For Educators
The Educator Resources page opens with “we know how much heart and hard work teachers put into every lesson,” and then lists what the museum offers. You can bring a live science show to your school, sign up for the educator newsletter, which covers tips, resources, special offers or new programs, or nominate a STEAM educator for recognition on the museum’s social media and free museum tickets.
The page also lists a teacher professional development workshop for educators in grades K-8. It costs $15 to cover lunch and has limited spots, and the date and registration link are on the page. The Teacher Resource Fair listing says to stay tuned for information about the next one.
Visiting On Your Own
The tickets page lists single-day admission at $22.95 for adults 13 to 64 and $17.95 for seniors and children 3 to 12, with children under 3 free. We didn’t find a teacher or educator rate there, on the visit page or on the membership page.
The page does list military with ID at $3 off and students with ID at $17.95. The note says those discounts are available in person every day with a valid ID and aren’t available online, so buy at the desk if one applies to you. The museum also says it doesn’t participate in the Museums for All program for those with an EBT card.
What We Couldn’t Confirm
The pages don’t say what decides whether a student ticket is $9 or $10, or what makes a group “qualifying.” They also don’t say whether the teacher who comes with a class counts as one of the free adults for every 10 students. Ask the reservations team when you book. We couldn’t tell whether the newsletter’s special offers include any admission discount, or who receives the free tickets in the educator nomination. We didn’t find a cash back route for tickets.
