How To Get The Andy Warhol Museum Teacher Discount
There isn’t a teacher discount to claim at the ticket counter, so the route is a group visit request. The group visits page says to submit the request at least three weeks in advance of the visit date, and the discounts page repeats that timing. Once you’re booked, the group page says artist educators work closely with teachers and group leaders before the museum visit to craft the gallery experience, so you can tell them what your class is studying.

What School Groups Pay
A guided group tour lasts approximately one hour. The guided tour fees on the group page are $23 for adults and $11 each for children ages 3 to 18, students with a valid ID and seniors 65 and over. An additional $100 artist educator fee is required for up to twenty people, so a class of twenty would add that on top of the per-person fees.
Two chaperones per twenty students are free. The page doesn’t say whether a teacher counts as one of those chaperones, so ask when you submit your request.
Warhol Workshops run approximately three hours, including a half-hour lunch, and combine discussion in the galleries with hands-on artmaking. They’re $450 for up to thirty students, and that fee includes admission and materials. Each extra student, up to ten more, adds a $5 materials fee, and a group with more than forty students has to book an additional workshop. The same two free chaperones per twenty students apply.
Teacher Workshops And Act 48 Hours
The teacher programs page lists workshops for teachers themselves. They focus on ways to use contemporary art in your classroom, and the page says participants may receive Act 48 credit hours. The museum also keeps an archive of free lesson plans and educational resources on its educators page, which anyone can open without booking a visit. The same page lists accommodations for school groups, from boxed lunches to bus parking.
Visiting On Your Own
When you’re coming without a class, nothing on the discounts page names teachers. A few of the listed offers could still apply to you. To reserve a timed ticket and redeem any of them, the page says to call 412-237-8300.
AAA members receive $1 off admission for up to six people, and WQED members get a buy one, get one free admission of equal or lesser value. Anyone who presents an active Bank of America or Merrill Lynch debit or credit card with a valid photo ID gets free admission the first full weekend of each month, through the Museums on Us program. Allegheny County residents ages 18 and up can use a library card from any Allegheny County library to get free or discounted passes through the RAD Pass. If you’re also a student at Carlow, Carnegie Mellon, Chatham, Duquesne, Point Park or the University of Pittsburgh, the page lists free admission for individual students with a valid ID, with limits for Duquesne and Pitt that it spells out.
Members receive free admission all year long, and the discounts page says Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh members receive free admission to four museums for an entire year. If you’re local and you visit more than once, that’s worth pricing against a single ticket.
What We Couldn’t Confirm
The discounts and admission pages don’t mention teachers or educators on regular admission, and the admission page we read doesn’t print a ticket price, so we can’t tell you what an individual adult pays. The group page doesn’t say whether a teacher counts as one of the free chaperones, and it doesn’t say whether schools outside the museum’s home region can book.
The teacher programs page also describes an annual Teacher Open House, an evening with food, drinks, gallery talks, silkscreen printing and a guided tour of an exhibition. It says teachers in attendance receive scholarship information for field trips and Artists in School partnerships and can receive four Act 48 credit hours. The museum’s event page for the most recent one says it has passed, while the teacher programs page still says registration will open soon. We couldn’t find a date for the next one, and neither page says what attendance costs or whether admission is free. The teacher workshops page doesn’t list a price either.
