Zappos doesn’t list a teacher discount, and we couldn’t find one on any of its own pages. What it does offer everyone is 10% off for new email subscribers and a free VIP program. For cash back, Rakuten’s Zappos page shows 10%, TopCashback lists 4% and Fluz lists 7% on Zappos gift cards.
If you’re buying work shoes for the school year or a gift for someone who is, those are the routes we could confirm. Below is what each one says, what it leaves out, and one claim we couldn’t back up.
How To Get The Zappos Teacher Discount
There’s no teacher program to apply for. Zappos’s coupons page says “The best thing you can do is to sign up for VIP and email, that way we can deliver special deals to your inbox.” It says new subscribers get 10% off, with one code per email address. It also says joining the Zappos VIP Program for free lets you earn VIP points (1 point for every $1 spent), free expedited shipping and bonus points on specific brands.
ID.me says on its Zappos page “We’re not aware that Zappos offers Teachers discounts.”
The one route that pays you back on a regular order is cash back. The button below goes to Rakuten, which showed the highest rate we found.
What Each Cash Back Source Says
Rakuten’s Zappos page shows 10% Cash Back with “was 2%” next to it, which suggests the 10% is a raised rate rather than the everyday one. Check the number before you shop, because it can drop back.
TopCashback’s Zappos page says “Get 4% of the price back with our Zappos Cash Back offers.” Its page says the cash back applies to all orders excluding gift cards, Birkenstock footwear and purchases made on the app, and its terms list the purchase or redemption of a Zappos gift card as an exclusion.
Fluz is the route for gift cards: its Zappos page is titled “Zappos gift cards with 7% cashback.” TopCashback leaves gift cards out, which makes Fluz the route we found for them.
Returns
Zappos’s FAQ says items may be returned for a full refund to your original form of payment within 60 days of purchase, and its shipping and returns page says merchandise must be returned within 60 days in new condition. That’s worth knowing if you’re ordering shoes for a school year and want to try them on at home first.
What We Couldn’t Confirm
Rakuten’s Zappos page says “If you’re a student or teacher, you qualify for a Zappos coupon code for 10% off every order,” and says you verify with SheerID. We didn’t find that offer on Zappos’s own pages, where the coupons page doesn’t mention teachers, educators or students, so we aren’t calling it a discount you can count on.
We also didn’t place an order, so we can’t say how any of the three cash back sources treats a particular purchase after you click through.
