The Metropolitan Museum of Art doesn’t list a discount for individual teachers. What it does list is school group pricing: one group leader per reservation receives complimentary admission, and all fees are waived for schools located within New York City.

How To Get The Metropolitan Museum of Art Teacher Discount
The Met’s K–12 School Groups page says appointments are required for all school groups visiting the Museum. You request one with the School Group Visit Request Form on that page. A guided visit needs the form at least three weeks in advance, and a self-guided visit needs it at least two weeks in advance. With a self-guided visit, the page says teachers and their students may explore the Museum’s collection independently.
The page says organizations with limited resources may qualify for significantly reduced rates or fee waivers, and to ask for details when you request a reservation. For questions it lists schoolvisits@metmuseum.org.
What School Groups Pay
Schools located outside New York City pay group admission of $12 per student and $12 per required adult chaperone, with one adult chaperone required for every 10 students. Additional adults are $28. One group leader per reservation receives complimentary admission. A guided tour is admission plus a $75 flat fee per 30 students for a one hour tour. The page says all fees are waived for schools located within New York City.
The page also says membership benefits and other passes are not valid for group admission, so a personal membership doesn’t change what the group pays.
Programs For Teachers And Classes
The Met’s Educators page describes workshops, events and programs, and online resources for your students and for you, including K–12 educator programs on objects in the collection, curriculum integration and methods for teaching with works of art. Its MetPLC page invites active New York City teachers working in a Title I, District 75 or transfer public school to apply to join its professional learning community. That’s a program, not a ticket discount, and we can’t tell you whether applications are open now.
The K–12 Tour + Studio Art Workshop is a $400 flat fee per workshop, including New York City schools, and the page says New York City Title I schools qualify for fee waivers.
Visiting On Your Own
The Plan Your Visit page lists general admission at $30 for adults, $22 for seniors 65 and over, $22 for visitors with a disability, $17 for students, and free for children 12 and under. New York State residents and New York, New Jersey and Connecticut students pay what they wish, though you must pay something, with a $00.01 minimum per ticket. None of those rows is for teachers, and the complimentary admission page has no teacher category either. It also says the Met does not accept vouchers or passes from any outside ticket sellers, so buy at metmuseum.org or at a ticketing desk on-site.
The membership page lists an Individual membership at $120 per year with free admission for one cardholder and one guest, plus children 17 and under. That could make sense if you’re local and you’ll come back with your family.
Cash Back Routes We Checked
We didn’t find a cash back listing for the Met. Fluz and TopCashback return not-found pages for it, and Rakuten’s addresses for it load its general page instead of a store page, so there’s no cash back route we can point you to.
What We Couldn’t Confirm
The group page doesn’t say who counts as the group leader, so ask on the request form whether that’s you. We didn’t open or submit the request form, and we couldn’t find a school ID or teacher ID admission price on any Met page we read.
