DataCamp doesn’t give teachers a personal discount. It gives you a free classroom: you apply, and if you’re approved, you and your students get free access to DataCamp’s data and AI courses for six months, and you can re-apply to keep it going. It’s for high school teachers and university instructors, and you apply with your school email and a link to your faculty page.
DataCamp teaches Python, SQL, Power BI, machine learning and other data and AI skills through interactive courses. If you’re a teacher who wants to learn Python yourself, or a high school teacher who wants a data class your students can work through at their own pace, this is the version of the offer that fits.
Who Qualifies
University professors, instructors, lecturers and assistant professors qualify at accredited institutions anywhere in the world. High school teachers qualify in Australia, Belgium, Canada, the Czech Republic, France, Poland, Türkiye, the UK and the USA. DataCamp doesn’t name elementary or middle school teachers, so if you teach younger grades, the application is the only way to find out. Students can’t make a classroom, so a student who wants access has to ask their teacher to apply.
How To Get The Free DataCamp Classroom
- Open the DataCamp Classrooms page and fill in the application: your school email address, school name, class name, your role (high school teacher, professor or instructor) and a link to your personal faculty page or staff directory. Every field is required, and DataCamp uses the faculty page link to confirm you’re an active teacher.
- Log in to DataCamp. If you don’t have an account, one is created for you.
- Wait for approval. DataCamp reviews applications in two to three business days, and up to a week at busy times. If DataCamp asks for more information and you don’t answer within two weeks, the application is rejected and you start over.
- Once you’re approved, invite your students.
What Your Classroom Includes
You and your students get every course and every piece of curriculum content on DataCamp, plus the tools you need to run a class: an admin dashboard, assignments, teams, a leaderboard and reporting. The classroom also includes DataLab, a cloud notebook where students can write and run code together.
You can invite students aged 17 and up. In the US, students 13 to 15 can join too if you get written consent from their parents or guardians, and that consent form is good for six months, the same length as your classroom access.
Keeping It Going
Access runs six months at a time. Re-apply when it ends, and put the date on your calendar when you’re approved so your students don’t lose their logins in the middle of a unit.
If you’d rather learn a language than code, our posts on Duolingo and Babbel cover what teachers get there, and the tech discounts for teachers page lists more software and learning apps.
