Codecademy gives teachers 50% off a Pro Annual plan for the first year. You qualify if you’re a teacher, faculty or staff member at an accredited school, from K-12 through university. You verify once, get a promo code, and pay half price the first time you buy. After that first year the plan renews at the regular price unless you cancel.
Codecademy teaches coding in the browser, one short lesson at a time, so it suits a middle school teacher who wants to learn Python over winter break as well as a professor brushing up on SQL. Pro is the paid plan. It includes all the courses, skill paths and career paths, real-world projects, interview prep, professional certifications and unlimited AI learning assistance. Pro Annual lists at $19.99 a month billed annually, or $39.99 a month if you pay monthly, so the teacher code takes half off the annual price.
How To Get The Codecademy Discount
- Open the Codecademy teacher page and click “Verify for Pro.” You’ll log in before the verification step.
- Verify through Proxi.id, the ID service Codecademy uses to confirm you’re a teacher, faculty or staff member. Codecademy doesn’t list what proof Proxi.id asks for, and if your role is on the border, this is the step where you find out whether it fits.
- Proxi.id gives you a promo code. You have to finish verification before you buy, because the code is what takes the 50% off.
- Choose the Pro Annual plan, enter the code at checkout and check the total before you pay. The code works one time only, so use it on the purchase you mean to make.
The discount is for a new subscription. It can’t be combined with another offer, and it doesn’t work on Codecademy for Business plans. Teachers and educators in any country that isn’t under a U.S. embargo can use it, and Codecademy verifies K-12, high school and university teachers worldwide.
What Happens After The First Year
The 50% covers the first year only. Your plan then renews each year at the regular price unless you cancel. Put the renewal day in your calendar when you pay so it doesn’t catch you off guard. If you’d rather not keep Pro, cancel before then. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you paid for, and you keep access until then.
If it’s languages you want to learn instead of code, our posts on Duolingo and Babbel cover what teachers get there, and the tech discounts for teachers page has more learning apps and software.
