Brilliant Teacher Discount: Free for K-12 Teachers

If you teach K-12, Brilliant is free for you and for your students. There’s no discount code and no price to haggle over: you apply for Brilliant for Educators, and once you’re in, your class gets Brilliant at no cost. It’s built for individual K-12 teachers working directly with students in accredited schools.

Brilliant is a hands-on learning app for math, coding, science and data, aimed at grades 5-12. Instead of reading a wall of text, students work through visual, interactive problems. Math topics run from Visual Algebra up through calculus, and the coding track includes Thinking in Python and Introduction to Neural Networks, so it suits the middle school teacher who wants students to try Python as much as the high school algebra teacher looking for a warm-up.

How To Get The Brilliant Teacher Discount

  1. Open the Brilliant for Educators application.
  2. Choose your role. Pick K-12 classroom teacher if that’s you, and you’ll get free access to topics and progress monitoring tools for your class.
  3. Finish the application. It runs through several short screens, so set aside a few minutes.
  4. Once you’re approved, add your students. They sign in, pick a topic and start learning, and you get a dashboard that shows who’s active and how far they’ve come.

Who Qualifies

Brilliant for Educators is designed for individual K-12 teachers working directly with students in accredited schools. If you’re a school or district administrator, the application points you to school and district-wide access instead, and for district pricing Brilliant asks you to create a school account so its team can help you set up.

Homeschool educators, college and university professors, tutors and camp or after-school club leaders aren’t part of this program. Brilliant says it has other ways to get access to Brilliant for each of those groups, so look there if that’s you.

What Your Students Get

Brilliant for Educators is open to all students, including those under 13, subject to legally required consent. The math curriculum is aligned to Common Core and state standards including Regents, so it’s easy to line up with what you’re already teaching.

If you teach languages, our guides to Duolingo and Babbel cover what’s available for your classroom, and Quizlet and Prodigy are worth a look if you want more tools for review and practice.

Q&A

Is Brilliant really free for teachers?
Yes. Eligible K-12 educators get Brilliant for Educators at no cost for themselves and their students, and Brilliant calls it free for teachers, always.

Do I need a code or a verification step?
No code. You apply at brilliant.org/educators, starting with your role. If you’re a K-12 classroom teacher, that’s the one to pick.

Is it only for math teachers?
No. Brilliant covers math, coding, science and data, so a science or computer science teacher can use it just as easily.

Can my students under 13 use it?
Yes, subject to legally required consent.

I homeschool. Can I get Brilliant for Educators?
Not through this program. Homeschool educators have a separate route to Brilliant, listed on the application.

Is this the same as Brilliant Earth?
No. Brilliant Earth is a jewelry brand and has nothing to do with this learning app.
