39DollarGlasses gives K-12 educators 15% off prescription eyeglasses and sunglasses, and it pairs the discount with a free pair of eyeglasses for a student who needs them. The student pair works through a code you hand to a family, so it’s worth reading how that part goes before you order.
39DollarGlasses is an online glasses retailer that says it was started by two eye doctors, and its site says its frames and lenses are customized and assembled in its optical lab on Long Island, NY. The teacher offer lives on the company’s own page, and we didn’t see ID.me mentioned there, so verification happens on 39DollarGlasses itself.
How To Get The 39DollarGlasses Teacher Discount
Open the 39DollarGlasses teacher page. It says to sign in or register to start the verification process, so you’ll need an account there first. To verify, the page says you enter the name of your school and your school email address, and once your credentials check out, the discount is applied to your account.
The page also says that once you’re verified, you’re verified for life, which suggests you won’t repeat the process on later orders. Its note on how verifying works mentions documents being permanently deleted after verification, so we couldn’t confirm whether a school email alone is enough in every case. If you’re asked for something extra, that note is the likely reason.
Who Qualifies
The page has a section headed All K-12 education professions. It says the offer is for educators who work with students in grades K-12 and have a valid, verifiable email address linked to their school, and that the list includes, but is not limited to, teachers, counselors, school administrators and school nurses. If you work in a school building but not in a classroom, the wording suggests you may still qualify.
One difference in wording is worth knowing about. The verification note on the same page says the company is proud to offer a 15% discount to all teachers and professors in the USA. We couldn’t confirm whether college faculty qualify, since the rest of the page describes K-12 staff. The wording is aimed at the USA, so we couldn’t confirm that the offer extends elsewhere either.
The Free Pair For A Student
The offer includes a free pair of eyeglasses for a student who may need them. The page says that once your order ships, you’ll get a customer QR code to give to a parent or guardian of a student, and you can find it in the email 39DollarGlasses sends or in your account section. The code takes them to a customized page where they can claim a free pair of prescription eyeglasses, shipped to your school.
The code arrives after your order ships, so going by how the page describes it, you can’t hand one over before you’ve bought your own pair. We couldn’t confirm how many codes you get, whether the student’s pair has any frame or prescription limits, or how long a code stays valid. If you already have a student in mind, check your account page once your order ships.
What We Couldn’t Confirm
The page describes the 15% as covering prescription eyeglasses or sunglasses, so we wouldn’t count on it for contact lenses. It doesn’t say whether lens add-ons such as coatings are discounted along with the frames, whether the discount can be combined with other promotions, or whether there’s a cap on how much you can spend under it. Look at the cart total before you pay to make sure the 15% shows.
