23andMe has a teacher offer listed on ID.me, but we couldn’t confirm it on 23andMe’s own site, so we aren’t calling it a discount you can count on. ID.me’s hosted page says Teachers get free shipping plus 10% off each additional Health + Ancestry Service. What we can verify without that page is cash back: Fluz lists 1.5% at 23andMe with a Fluz virtual card.
23andMe sells at-home DNA kits for ancestry and health reports. If you’ve thought about giving one as a gift, or you teach a genetics unit and want to see what a consumer kit actually reports, here’s what we found and what we couldn’t check.
How To Get The 23andMe Teacher Discount
ID.me’s 23andMe page says 23andMe has a Teachers discount and/or cash back offer, and its store listing reads “Free Shipping & 10% Off Each Additional Kit for Teachers.” The hosted page spells it out: Teachers get free shipping plus 10% off each additional Health + Ancestry Service from 23andMe. It says that after you verify, you’re redirected to the 23andMe cart page for Teachers.
The page’s fine print says the free standard shipping, a $9.95 value, is valid in the U.S. only on Personal Genetic Service purchases made by verified Teachers subscribed to ID.me. Here’s the catch: the fine print names the Personal Genetic Service, while 23andMe’s current Health + Ancestry kit page calls its product a Health + Ancestry kit and has no teacher or educator wording on it. We couldn’t tell whether the ID.me offer still carries over, so read the offer on ID.me before you plan around it. The button below goes to Fluz, the cash back route we could confirm.
What Each Cash Back Source Says
Fluz lists 1.5% cashback at 23andMe with a Fluz virtual card. We didn’t find a TopCashback page for 23andMe, and Rakuten’s address for it loads a general page instead of a store page. Rates change, so check the number on Fluz before you pay.
A Free Resource For Your Classroom
Separately from the kits, 23andMe publishes a Genetics Learning Hub. It’s described as a free and accessible resource designed to support public understanding of genetics and scientific research. If you want genetics material for a lesson and you aren’t buying a test, that’s the part to look at.
What We Couldn’t Confirm
We didn’t verify through ID.me or place an order, so we can’t say what the cart page shows today, whether the 10% still applies or what the kit costs after it. We also didn’t find the teacher offer anywhere on 23andMe’s own pages.
